Survival Strathcona Style - Book Cover Wrap

2009 marked the 50th year since Myrna Boulding founded the Strathcona Park Lodge with her husband Jim.

That year, a big anniversary celebration was held and many of the early instructors, guides, and employees gathered to catch-up, tell stories, and see how the Lodge (and each other) had progressed. At the time, Myrna decided to write a book. It includes family history, timelines of the Lodge’s many changes and collects stories and history from some of the exceptional staff that passed through this West Coast institution.

60 years in, the heart of the Lodge is the same. It exists to show people that the outdoors are accessible and beneficial and with a little education, adventuring is something that can be done safely.

For the 60th Anniversary, there was no large party or fanfare to mark the occasion, but Myrna wanted an update for the books cover wrap. I looked to the content for the inspiration and found it was clearly Myrna and Jim. A husband and wife who pursued true life on the edge, and have many, many stories to learn from, laugh at, and enjoy.
